Alien Invasion?

Alien Invasion?

Relax; it’s not an alien invasion.  What’s your first thought when you look at the image?  Many see an alien hiding in a human’s body; others see an alien removing skin.  I see neither. I see what many of us are going through every day. We are living a life that is totally different from the one we envisage ourselves in.  We show one side of ourselves to the world, the persona we created and perfected just so we can fit in with everyone else, not knowing it is okay to be different, be an alien.  We eventually become a person that we don’t even recognize when we look in the mirror. We get mentally, physically, and emotionally distorted, confused, and uncomfortable. It’s sad because it is true; many people not only in Jamaica, but across the world are forced to hide in plain sight or chan...

Break Up Process

All good things must come to an end ~ Geoffrey Chaucer People believe that a break up is simple; you cry for a week then move on.  Is that the case for everyone?  Do you run to another guy/girl after exiting a relationship?  Do you take another drink or eat yourself to death? When the relationship comes to an end, what should I do? Many will agree that the breakup process is just like the grieving process, it involves: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.  Time heals all wounds, I must agree, but my length of time will not be yours, as such, you and I shouldn't rush another person when they are going through this phase. Feelings, feelings, feelings

There are times when you encounter situations and your emotions over power your sense of judgement and actions.  We may be faced with a team member who acts like our boss, our boss is overbearing and loves to micromanage us, and the list can continue.  But, do we stop to think about the message not the messenger? I am of a strong belief that nothing happens without a reason, within every situation (good or bad) you can pick a lesson to learn and grow from.  Would you agree? I recently had the displeasure of dealing with an unpleasant situation, one in which I would not normally react how I did. After that encounter and speaking with my mom, I realized that if I was playing my part, maybe I wouldn’t have had that experience. I decided to shape up and do better ne...
Should we teach our sons to be emotionally compatible?

Should we teach our sons to be emotionally compatible?

Do we need to teach our sons how to be more emotionally compatible?  Such a homophobic country such as Jamaica has left a lasting impact on the minds of our young men.  Young men nowadays are afraid of showing any sort of affection towards others out of fear of being considered weak or feminine.  Men and women have distinctive ways of communication, despite the many views that men cannot be from planet Earth.  Especially when it comes on to children - sons to be precise – it is rare to find a man sitting down having a discussion with his son. “There are hardly any good men left” a statement made all too well by most single women all because men are scared to be romantic.  Can we as women and mothers teach our sons that it is OK for them to show love?  What ...
