What to do if Covid-19 took your job

I’ve not been on this earth long enough to compare the severity of world events but based on the views of others; this truly is the worst the world’s economy has been in. Covid-19 has ruined lives by stealing joy, money, and lives; many personal and business lives have been severely impacted not just in Jamaica but across the globe. On the other hand, Covid 19 has showed us what should be important in our lives; realizing that the things that truly matter we have been taking for granted just for the sake of earning a buck to spend it on bills. The question that many are asking now is “What should I do now that Covid-19 took my job?” Thankfully, I have a few suggestions below: Enjoy the moments with your family - Many despise the Kardashian family for reasons that are unknown to me. Y...

Break Up Process

All good things must come to an end ~ Geoffrey Chaucer People believe that a break up is simple; you cry for a week then move on.  Is that the case for everyone?  Do you run to another guy/girl after exiting a relationship?  Do you take another drink or eat yourself to death? When the relationship comes to an end, what should I do? Many will agree that the breakup process is just like the grieving process, it involves: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.  Time heals all wounds, I must agree, but my length of time will not be yours, as such, you and I shouldn't rush another person when they are going through this phase. There is so much on your mind when you go through a break-up.  After doing my research I came to the conclusion that the length o...

Hustling

The urban dictionary defines ‘hustling’ as making money no matter what the situation is; Jamaicans are the creators and mastermind behind the term, ‘hustling’.  I strongly believe that we are able to make it wherever we go just because of this trait.  Today, I want to share five tips for making money on the side to supplement your current income or just to have extra cash on the daily.  Consultant – A person who provides expert advice professionally; other synonyms include: adviser, guide, counselor, expert, and specialist.  I consider myself a consultant because I have knowledge and experience in certain fields for more than three (3) years.  It is one of the quickest ways to earn money without building up unnecessary debt and overhead expenses. ...

Hot Head, Calm Down

Criticism may come in the harshest form, some we even cry about at nights.  Other times it comes from persons who we may not be fond of.  But, is it possible for us to focus on the message and not the messenger? Is it possible for us to find value in what was said and use it as a booster that will make us one step closer to success?  Is it viable to accept criticism?  Is it feasible for us to maintain self-control whilst being criticized? It is true that being the better and bigger person is easier said than done; it also takes more strength to not react rather than to.  You feel better when you don’t give into these pressures.  There are times when people push you to your limit and you feel an overwhelming cloud come over you.  I’ve seen situatio...
Should we teach our sons to be emotionally compatible?

Should we teach our sons to be emotionally compatible?

Do we need to teach our sons how to be more emotionally compatible?  Such a homophobic country such as Jamaica has left a lasting impact on the minds of our young men.  Young men nowadays are afraid of showing any sort of affection towards others out of fear of being considered weak or feminine.  Men and women have distinctive ways of communication, despite the many views that men cannot be from planet Earth.  Especially when it comes on to children - sons to be precise – it is rare to find a man sitting down having a discussion with his son. “There are hardly any good men left” a statement made all too well by most single women all because men are scared to be romantic.  Can we as women and mothers teach our sons that it is OK for them to show love?  What ...

Read this before you quit

“Do something today that your future self will thank you for” I have been wondering what I’m doing with my life and what my next step will be ever since 2018 started. The crazy thing is that even though I know what I want and how to get there, sometimes I feel like I’m not seeing the results I want. There are times when I want to give up on pursuing my dreams but then I think about my job right now and living the rest of my life as an employee; it really depresses me. There is no way I can stop now. I ask myself, “Why am I so lazy? Why do I procrastinate so much? Do I know how much I could achieve if I stop quitting and just do? How will I feel next year this time?” Then, there are times of the month when I feel extremely tired; it’s ridiculous. It’s like I exhaust myself du...
