Business Ideas for Black Women

Whether you are a stay at home mom or just a woman tired of slaving for the traditional 9-5 there are plenty of business ideas you can consider. We understand that it is hard to sit and home and wait for your husband to bring home that bread or tired of that nagging boss but want to start your career full speed ahead. We assure you we have been in this position before and decided to help you out with launching a business for yourself.

Let’s dive in.

  1. Blogging

Blogging is a potential billion-dollar business if you build your blog based on quality information. Just think about it, people are always searching for information, whether it is food, travel, lifestyle, money, etc. What if you decided to start a blog on something you are passionate about? Depending on your skillset and consistently, you can start to earn lunch money six months after the birth of your blog, one year to start earning a few extra bucks and two years onwards you can quit your job and use blogging as your prime source of income. Do not assume that you will magically start earning even if you are not consistent, your followers may feel as though you are not worthy of being followed. Keep the blog fun, exciting and updated posting at least once per day.

Bloggers can make money too from the following:

  • Sponsored Content
  • Advertisements
  • Digital/Non Digital Products
  • Paid Memberships
  • Services i.e. Consultations
  • Affiliate Marketing

2. DayCare

I remember telling my co-worker a couple of months back that if this company was every to fire me I would immediately start a daycare. Why? After my research and observation, I realized that the majority of the women in the call center industry have at least one child, are single moms and thus are required to work very long hours during the workweek. I suggested I would assist these moms by providing a reasonable day care service that catered for women in my area which included after school pick up and care. I’m spilling one of my business ideas to you not because I’m no longer interested but it can be an excellent source of income for you if you love staying at home and taking care of kids.

For my fellow Jamaicans, check out this link which will help you in bringing your daycare dreams to reality.

3. Health and Fitness

You would be surprised at the increase in membership sign-ups at the gym every year all because people are starting to gain knowledge on their health and want to put things in place to keep themselves happy. With that being said, how about starting yoga, spinning, nutrition or even dance class? The start-up costs maybe a little high since you’ll need to provide equipment or rent a space but you are guaranteed to make money from these classes once you market yourself properly. Not to mention the additional benefit of getting paid for keeping yourself in shape.

Other health and fitness classes include:

  • Pilates
  • Weight Lifting
  • Strength Training
  • Meal Prep
  • Zumba

4. Virtual Assistants

Often we look down at the person at the front desk, secretary or personal assistants but what if I told you these same persons were making the same amount as the supervisors in banks ONLINE? Would you believe me? As businesses gradually keep up to date with the ever-changing technological factors that affect the environment, jobs such as personal assistants have been moved to online platforms. If you are interested in this job, you would be happy to know that you have the privilege of working from the comfort of your home or anywhere in the world as long as you have an excellent internet connection.

If you would love the opportunity to work from home as a virtual assistant, feel free to check out my previous blog right here.

5. Food Service

There is nothing I love more than consuming food but the wait time for preparing or eating out at fast food joints can be time-consuming. My fellow black sistas, if you are looking for business ideas then ding, ding DING! This just might be IT! Imagine, purchasing & delivering food for employees in the BPO industry for example and charging $200 per order. If you had 300 persons ordering from you each day, you would be making $60,000 per day which equates to $300,000 per week and $1,200,000 per month. Which other business you know makes that much per month? I’ll wait… You can start this business with a bike or bicycle until you can purchase a vehicle and maybe even a food truck to transfer into selling food to these people.

6. Youtube

Ah! Youtube. My love, my passion, and greatest desire. Taking you back to blogging mentioned earlier, YouTubing is a type of blogging called vlogging. You are recording and providing information about things you are passionate about in video form. It takes a while to get started on Youtube but once you have good and steady content you are guaranteed to start earning an income in six-twelve months. Youtube themselves have their guidelines as to what is expected from each user and I am sure you will have your expectations as well. You can vlog about anything but here are the top fifteen highest paying niches on Youtube as of 2019.

  1. Forex Trading
  2. Travel
  3. Comedy
  4. Gaming
  5. Music
  6. Technology
  7. Cars
  8. Food
  9. Beauty
  10. Celebrity Life & Entertainment
  11. Sports
  12. Insurance
  13. Wildlife
  14. Immigration/Migration
  15. Health & Fitness
